I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Milo

I'm Available | Bonded With: Carmelita

Milo was abandoned at the shelter in Mexico as a puppy two years ago– where he lived with 96 other dogs without much TLC or attention. When he was 8 months old he was adopted by a rancher to “take care” of the rancher’s cattle. At the ranch, he had little supervision and he and another dog, his best friend Zeus, ran around not so much taking care of the cattle, but chasing the cattle and having fun. Milo and Zeus were promptly returned to the shelter, where they both languished another year, until a couple, looking at how cute Milo is, adopted him. But Milo was not used to being around people and having attention, so he hid in the couple’s garden and was very scared of any human contact. As the volunteer re-homing the dogs at the shelter did not want Milo returned to the shelter, she took him into her house, where he was given gentle attention (not overwhelming him) some crate training and beginners dog walking. Enter Carmelita, the other rescue, she was already at the volunteer’s house, Milo took Carmelita’s lead and came out of his shell. These two are a devoted pair and Milo needs Carmelita’s guidance.

Milo currently spends his day with approximately 10 other dogs, playing and resting from 8:30-4:30 in approximately 2 acres of grass with obstacle toys. He is woken up at 7AM, fed breakfast and is outside with Carmelita until the other dogs come around 8:30. At 4:30 he is fed dinner and sleeps for approximately two or so hours and then let out again to go to the restroom and stretch for about another one to two hours. He and Carmelita sleep through the night in their kennel.

Milo is going to weekly group dog training classes with Steph, led by Cayce Wallace at Laughing Dogs Academy. He has learned to the commands: sit, here and wait. He get training twice a day for approximately 10-20 minutes. He is being taken out for field trips to get used to unfamiliar sounds and people.
