July 15th, at approximately 10:30 AM
Staging area for the Strawberry Festival Parade, just south of Camp Colvos.
When Barbara Drinkwater, her mother and Piro Kramar came to Vashon, they noticed very quickly that there was a dire need to help stray animals. In 1983 they got together with a small group of friends to help foster homeless pets. Vashon Island Pet Protectors was made official in 1984.
We will be celebrating all year and into the next this great, lasting achievement. We would love for you to walk with us in the Strawberry Festival Parade if you have adopted an animal from VIPP, or if VIPP has touched your life in some way.
The parade stages just south of town. You can email [email protected] for more details or you can sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page. We will be sending out more details as soon as we have them.
We will have some signs, candy, and streamers but you are welcome to bring your own too. Have a photo of your pet that you'd like to carry? That would be great.
Did I mention it's a lot of fun? People cheer for you as you walk by. Your face will hurt from smiling. Please join us and Mayor Buddy as we celebrate this great accomplishment.
