Polkie the 14 year old Polka Dot wonder dog was surrendered to VIPP in January by her owner who did the right thing in realizing that he could no longer care for her as she needed. There are many reasons why someone could find themselves in the position of needing to surrender their pet for their pet's sake, and they should all be respected. Polkie was in pretty bad shape - with some wounds, some health issues, and advanced arthritis in all of her legs - when we took her in. VIPP has spent the last couple of months rehabilitating Polkie - tending to her wounds, soaking her raw feet in Epsom salt baths, getting her all the vet care she needed to take care of her health issues and to find the right combination of medications for her arthritis, and loving on her. We've gotten Polkie to a really good place and we think we have found that special adopter who will take stellar care of her in her golden years and provide a perfect environment for Polkie to enjoy her days. Yay! VIPP will be covering the cost of Polkie's vet care for the rest of her life, one example of the many ways that VIPP allocates donations to support and protect our Island's pets. Please donate if you are so moved to support Polkie's continued vet care.
