One of the cats died upon arrival to VIPP. Charlie was in critical condition. She was completely listless and unable to stand up or eat. After a few days at the veterinarian, Charlie was taken home to be cared for by a licensed vet tech, Kay Farris. Kay nursed Charlie back to health. Now Charlie is at the VIPP shelter looking for a loving home. Her eyes are dilated likely due to her trauma. Charlie is shy but very dear. She was first spotted hanging around 188th St. back in mid August. The person who found her sent a photo but Marlee was too shy to come close. She was described on our site as being long hair and a male. Her fur was quite matted so she likely looked to have longer fur. After scrounging around for months she is now healing and resting on soft blankets and getting regular meals. She is looking for the same set up in her new home. Abby is almost 8 years old and very sweet and gentle. She is used to a quiet house and is extremely timid. Although she would probably be fine in a quiet house with another gentle (not hyper) cat or two - as she likes cozying up to and sleeping with other cats. She has never nipped, bitten or scratched. She is very gentle – but she is just very uncomfortable with people.
Abby has been 100% indoors. She has no experience with the outdoors and might be helpful to note that she has no experience with children or other animals (dogs, birds, etc) – so therefore no track record how she would be in this environment. She enjoys being combed and light brushing and being pet and she needs a quiet household with a family that is patient and willing to give love and care for an animal they may not reciprocate with a sense of devotion and affection.
